Woodstock Trio announces spring tour

The Woodstock Trio will make a several special appearance during the month of April. The public is invited and the admission is free.

- Sunday, April 14 — Glacier Unitarian Universalist Fellowship; Earth Day Celebration; 1515 Trumble Creek Road; 10 a.m.

- Saturday, April 20 — Nancy Cawdry Gallery, 204 Wisconsin Ave., Whitefish; 5 to 8 p.m.

- Tuesday, April 23 — The Kalispell Brewery; Earth Day Celebration; 412 South Main St.; 5 to 8 p.m.

- Saturday, April 27 — Whitefish Middle School; 600 E. Second St.; Earth Day Celebration; noon to 2 p.m.

The Woodstock Trio was formed by music instructor Steve Eckels to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair.

The group, which is new to the valley performs songs such as “Get Together,” “Woodstock,” “Big Yellow Taxi,” “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Ohio,” “Green River,” “For What It’s Worth,” “With a Little Help from my Friends,” “Groovin,” “Born Under a Bad Sign,” “Here Comes the Sun,” and other songs that were popular at the time of the Woodstock Festival.

The group will also feature Bill Rossiter on banjo and harmonica as their special guest.

Eckels holds a master’s degree in African American studies from New England Conservatory and is a National Board certified teacher. He teaches guitar and the history of rock ’n’ roll for the public schools in Kalispell.
