Whitefish tops C-Falls twice, splits with Flathead netters
The second meeting for the boys between Northwestern A rivals Columbia Falls and Whitefish was just like the first with Whitefish dominating and winning by the same final score (6-1) on Thursday in tennis action on the courts at Flathead Valley Community College.
In both those duals, Columbia Falls won at No. 3 singles. This time however, it was Trey Perkins pulling out a 6-4, 6-1 win.
“A first-year senior,” Columbia Falls coach Michele Colliander said of Perkins, who is playing tennis for the first time.
“He’s really stepping up, such a natural athlete. It’s been fun to watch his progression on the court.”
Whitefish also faced off with Class AA Flathead, losing that matchup 5-3.
Whitefish’s Brendan Buls rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles versus Columbia Falls and 6-1, 6-0 against Flathead.

Whitefish picked up two more dual victories Thursday, besting Columbia Falls 6-1 in Northwestern A play and edging Class AA Flathead 4-3 in a nonconference match at FVCC.
“We’re improving,” Whitefish coach Patrick Dryden said. “Really pleased with the freshmen. We have three freshmen in the lineup. They won three and lost three.”
Dryden was elated with the effort of the No. 1 doubles team — Aubrey Hanks and Olivia Potthoff.
“Coming off their first defeat of the season (at Cut Bank Invitational last weekend), it was nice to see them bounce back with a vengeance,” he said.
Hanks and Potthoff won 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-3 against Columbia Falls and Flathead, respectively.
