Spring Swing

The Salvation Army hosts the annual “Spring Swing Fling Thing” at 6:30 p.m. today in the Salvation Army Community Center, 110 Bountiful Drive in Kalispell, between Immanuel Lutheran Home and the Brendan House.

The “Swingin’ on High” 18-member big band, led by BJ Lupton, is the feature entertainment. All ages are welcome to come dance to the music. The Stillwater Christian School Jazz Band will also perform.

Refreshments will be provided during the evening. Although this is a free event, the Salvation Army red kettle” will be available for donations.

‘Vagina Monologues’

The annual production of “The Vagina Monologues,” plays today and Saturday at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.

Wine and beer will be available. The show is not recommended for children.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for happy hour. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for the Abbie Shelter.

Pancake breakfast

The Columbia Falls Lions Club hosts its annual pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at The Coop, 830 First Ave. W. in Columbia Falls.

The menu features pancakes, sausage, fruit, scrambled eggs, ham, orange juice and coffee.

The cost for adults is $6; children 12 and under are $5; and families with two adults and two children are $20.

Rummage sale

Epworth United Methodist Church has its annual spring rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 329 Second Ave. E., Kalispell Proceeds support a local, national and an international project. This years recipients are the Flathead Youth Home, Blackfeet United Methodist Parish and Angola’s pastor support.

‘Life of Owls’

Lone Pine State Park in Kalispell hosts the program “The Outrageous Life of Owls” from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Join a park ranger for a short program on owls and a guided 1.5-mile hike through Lone Pine in search of these silent hunters.

Dress for the weather. A head lamp, water and snack are recommended; binoculars are optional.

The cost is $4 per person 13 years and older, and 12 and younger are free. Registration is required. To register, call 406-755-2706, ext. 2.

Shred event

A free shred event is offered 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Northwest Veterans Food Pantry, 1349 U.S. 2 E., across from Super 1 in Evergreen. Bring confidential documents to shred.

Information on identity theft, fraud protection, and the Senior Medical Patrol will be available. Free cookies and coffee will be served.

Ladies luncheon

The Museum at Central School in Kalispell hosts its annual ladies luncheon, Mad Hatters Tea Party, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Clean the theater

The Whitefish Theatre Co. hosts a spring cleaning day at the O’Shaughnessy Center from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday. Join theater staff and help clean the Center shine inside and out.

Taste of Bigfork

The Taste of Bigfork 2019 takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in downtown Bigfork featuring wine and food tastings from the more than 20 local establishments. There will also be live music throughout the day. “The world’s greatest raffle” takes place at 5 p.m. at the Garden Bar.

Tickets for the event are $40 per person at Electric Avenue Gifts and the Bigfork Area Chamber of Commerce office.

Arbor Day

Kalispell’s Arbor Day celebration takes place from 9:05 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at Woodland Park. There will be brief presentations by representatives from the Kalispell Parks and Recreation Department, the city and Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, followed by School District 5 third-graders visiting 18 stations by local forestry, wildlife, fire and tree professionals.

Quilt show

The Teakettle Quilt Guild hosts it annual quilt show from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Saturday at Glacier Gateway Elementary School, 440 Fourth Ave. W., in Columbia Falls.

More than 110 quilts will be displayed along with antique quilts and sewing machines.

The show features a large boutique, vendors and quilt raffle. Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring food donations for the food bank.
