Glacier swept both Helena schools in Western AA softball action on Saturday at Glacier High School.

The Wolfpack (12-3 overall, 8-2 conference) put together strong defensive peformances, allowing just one run in beating Helena High 4-1 and shutting out Helena Capital 1-0.

Both teams were held to three hits each.

“I’m super impressed with our defense,” Glacier coach Abby Connolly said.

“It’s a huge testament to how much time they put in. They’re becoming a really solid defensive team.”

Pitcher Kynzie Mohl started both games and allowed one hit in five innings against Helena. She also had a two-run home run in the first inning and singled later.

Allee Meyer went 2 for 3 for Glacier at the plate.

Halle Schroeder doubled in the first tripled in the fourth.

Against Capital, Sage Vanterpool doubled in the second inning and had one RBI.

Meyer was solid at the plate again, hitting 2 for 3.

Connolly said right fielder Megan Eckert stepped up by making a big defensive play against Capital.

Glacier next heads to Polson on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. nonconference game.
