Martin Christian 'Chris' Riebe II, 42

Martin Christian “Chris” Riebe II was born Sept. 23, 1976, in Whitefish, and went home to Jesus on April 4, 2019, in Seattle, following injuries suffered in a mill accident on March 21.

Chris was a graduate of Kila Elementary and Flathead High, spending his senior year as a foreign exchange student in Ecuador. Following graduation in 1995, he served six years in the Marines.

Chris and his future wife, Shannon Thorwart, met as teenagers at Bible camp. They married in Tacoma, Washington, in 1998. They were blessed with seven children, Madison, Skylar, Cloei, Jessilyn, Bowen, Hannah and Tanner.

In addition to his wife and children at the family home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Chris is survived by his parents, Arnie and Shirley Riebe, of Kila; numerous siblings and in-laws, including Erik Riebe, Anastasiya Riebe, Erin and David Arndt, and Josh and Shelby Cox; his wife’s parents; and a multitude of nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and dear friends.

A memorial service in Kalispell will be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 4 at Bible Presbyterian Church, at Fifth Avenue West and Fourth Street.
