Flathead used 5-3 victories in boys and girls tennis action on Tuesday to take both crosstown duals from Glacier on the courts at Flathead Valley Community College.

The Flathead girls and boys both won Nos. 2-3-4 singles and Nos. 1-2 doubles.

“We had a lot of players really step up and pull out some tough matches,” Flathead coach Jimmy Cripe said.

“On the boys side (David) Marburger and (Brian) Wells were down a set and 6-1 in the second set tiebreaker before coming back to win in three sets. (Nolan) White and (Ethan) Hawkins had a nice three set win at No. 1 doubles and Ryan Thomsen gutted out a three set singles victory to clinch the team win.

“On the girls side, our top two doubles teams had clutch three set wins after losing the first set in each match. First year players Mayson Moore, Avery Cherot and Claire Morris all had impressive singles wins with Cherot getting the clincher. It was an exciting day for our players and school to win crosstown with both teams.”

Flathead is back in action Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Helena Invitational.

Glacier stays home Saturday, hosting the Missoula schools starting at 10 a.m. at FVCC.
