Van Lake Road temporary closure announced

The Flathead National Forest announced Tuesday that a portion of the Van Lake Road on the Swan Lake Ranger District will be closed for public safety from Aug. 5 through Sept. 30 for the Van Lake Improvements Project.

The road, Forest Service 558, will close at mile 1.28, restricting access to the Van Lake Dispersed Area and Road 1076.

The project includes improvements to campsites, the boat launch and dispersed recreation, as well as road management actions and hazard tree removal. Detailed project information is available at: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=55481.
