Delbert 'Bud' Lowitz, 80

Delbert “Bud” Lowitz, 80, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on Aug. 4, 2019. Bud now has answers to all of the questions that Pastor Reiner and Pastor Cutler told him to ask when he gets there.

He was born on the farm outside of Whitefish on July 25, 1939, to Delbert J. and Lucille A. Lowitz. He attended Whitefish High School, graduated in 1957, and received a football scholarship to Eastern College in Billings.

He worked side by side with his dad learning the upholstery trade, which they did for several years together. Bud decided to take a few years off from upholstery and drove log truck for Lyman Claridge Logging. He realized upholstery was his true calling, leading up to his own business, Lowitz Custom Shoppe, where he worked closely with family until his retirement, at which point his son Dave took over the business.

He married Lamona in 1960, and together they had three children, Rod, Dave and Lisa. In his early years he loved farming and golfing, as well anything with wheels and motors. He also spent a lot of time riding motorcycles and snowmobiling with the boys.

In 1992 he and Toni were married. Together they enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling to swim meets. He was actively involved at Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder, usher and on the Evangelism board. His relationship with Jesus was very important to him.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ernest, sister Gloria, and son Rod.

He is survived by his wife Toni, son Dave (Melanie), daughter Lisa (Charlie), daughter-in-law Karen, stepchildren Wayne (Debbie), Robin (Irving), and Kelly, 13 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Richard and Mark, and sisters Frieda and Naomi.

There will be a grave side committal service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery (corner of Whitefish Stage and Rose Crossing), with a memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 400 W. California, in Kalispell, at 11:30 a.m., with a luncheon immediately following.

“May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.”
