Fred was born April 27, 1938, to Frederick William and Jean Corrigan McFarland in Kansas City, Missouri. Fred grew up in Baldwin Park, California, where he graduated from Baldwin Park High School in 1957, and then earned an Associate in Arts degree from Mount San Antonio College. Fred then attended the University of Montana for one year and, in October of 1961, Fred joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served until June of 1964. He was in the Reserves for three more years. Knowing he wanted to finish his college education, Fred returned to the University of Montana and graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree. While at the U of M, Fred met his wife, Sherrie Ingram, whom he was happily married to for 52 years.

Fred’s career revolved around the airline industry beginning with TWA in Irvine, California. TWA moved Fred and Sherrie to Kansas City, Missouri, where their first two children, Edward and Patricia, were born. In 1975 Fred took a job with E-Systems, and moved his family to Salt Lake City where their third child, Jennifer, was born. In 1981 Fred took a job with Parker Hannifin, which required him to relocate his family to Greenville, Texas. He retired from Parker Hannifin in 2005, and moved his family to their longtime summer home on Flathead Lake in Polson.

Fred served faithfully in his local church throughout his entire adult life.

Fred is survived by his wife, Sherrie; children, Edward, Patricia and Jennifer; grandchildren, Stephen, Hunter, William, Edward Scott, Katherine, Brittany, Nathan Gage and Allie Jean; brother, John; and sister, Judith.
