An evening with Garrison Keillor and the Coeur d'Alene Symphony

| August 15, 2019 4:00 AM

Garrison Keillor will join the Coeur d’Alene Symphony for a special performance at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 to celebrate the opening evening of the remodeled Schuler Performing Arts Center on the North Idaho College campus.

Keillor did “A Prairie Home Companion” for 40 years, wrote fiction and comedy, and invented a town called Lake Wobegon where all the children are “above average.” He is embarking on national tour of benefit shows and reconnecting with his live audiences. Rich Dworsky, music director of his radio show and Keillor’s long-time accompanist, will join him on stage. Keillor is paying his own expenses and donating his time and talents. All ticket sales go directly to the Coeur d’Alene Symphony.

Historically, the symphony has been a volunteer organization. Last season, special donations through patrons have made it possible to pay all of the musicians. Now, beginning its 41st season, the second season with artistic director and conductor Jan Pellant, and with exciting and extended performances in the surrounding communities plus new youth education programs, the Coeur d’Alene Symphony is ready to grow.

The “Evening with Garrison Keillor” will ensure the financial stability to support the Coeur d’Alene Symphony’s growth.

Keillor will meet and greet 20 VIP ticket holders for a reception immediately following his performance. Tickets are in the first row, center orchestra of the theater and are $500 each (tax deductible). These special tickets are only available through the Symphony office at 208-765-3833 or on its website, cdasymphony.org

All other tickets, $35 to $75, are available through ticketswest.com, or at their outlets. Discounted student “Rush Tickets” will be sold an hour prior to the show.
