Total at fair stock sale tops $560,000

Champion Market Hog was raised by Teagan Flint of Columbia Falls and purchased by Les Schwab Tire – Columbia Falls for $2,394.

Champion Market Lamb was raised by Bailey Lake of Kalispell and purchased by Whitefish Credit Union for $2,415.

Gross sales at the Northwest Montana Fair Stock Sale this year totaled $562,291, a bit lower than last year’s sales total, according to fair officials.

The average beef price per pound came in at $3.55. In 2018, the average price per pound was $3.76. The average hog price per pound was $6.75, compared to $6.96 in 2018. The average lamb price per pound was $8.27, down from $9.51 last year.

The Champion Market Beef was raised by Garrett Jewett of Kalispell and purchased by Dr. Al Olszewski for $8,718. The animal weighed 1,453 pounds and sold for $6 per pound.

The Reserve Champion Market Beef was raised by Bethany Lyford of Kalispell and purchased by Sliters Lumber for $6,790. The animal weighed 1358 pounds and sold for $5 per pound.

The Champion Market Hog was raised by Teagan Flint of Columbia Falls and purchased by Les Schwab Tire – Columbia Falls for $2,394. The animal weighed 266 pounds and sold for $9 per pound.

The Reserve Champion Market Hog was raised by Jaden McIntyre of Kalispell and purchased by Les Schwab Tire - Evergreen for $2,277. The animal weighed 253 pounds and sold for $9 per pound.

The Champion Market Lamb was raised by Bailey Lake of Kalispell and purchased by Whitefish Credit Union for $2,415. The animal weighed 140 pounds and sold for $17.25 per pound.

The Reserve Champion Market Lamb was raised by Anna Morrison of Kalispell and purchased by Les Schwab Tire – Center Street for $1,972. The animal weighed 136 pounds and sold for $14.50 per pound.
