Flathead's Mercer leads at Missoula Invitational
Missoula — Flathead’s Marcella Mercer leads the Missoula Invitational golf tournament after Monday’s first round of play at Larchmont Golf Course.
Mercer carded an 80, three strokes better than Butte’s Kodie Hoagland and Corvallis’ Macee Greenwood who are tied for second at 83. Flathead’s Jillian Wynne is fourth with an 85. Glacier’s Anna Griffin is eighth at 89 and Stella Claridge is 18th at 103.
The Bravettes and the Wolfpack are sitting fourth and fifth in the team standings at 398 and 408, respectively.
Butte leads the girls at 347.
Glacier’s Tyler Avery and Keaton Cassidy are tied for seventh place among the boys, both with a first round 78. Flathead’s Joston Cripe is tied for 18th with an 84.
Sentinel’s Jaden Dennis leads the boys competition at 70. Sentinel, at 313, also has a two-stroke lead in the team standings over Helena Capital, 315. Glacier is fifth at 338 and Flathead is sixth at 359.
The tournament wraps up today at Canyon River Golf Course. Tee time is 8:30 a.m.
