Browning team takes top honors at Indian Relay Races

The 2019 Leroy Skunkcap Memorial Indian Relay Races were held during halftime of the Northwest Montana Fair rodeo on Aug. 15-16, with the championship held Aug. 17 during the final night of rodeo action. The Black Rock relay team from Browning garnered first place in the championship race, and took home a $3,250 payout, plus saddles, buckles, jackets and blankets.

Following are the results of the relay races:

Heat one:

Little Badger, Browning, first place, $1,550 payout

Abrahamson, Omak, Washington, second place, $930 payout

Starr School, Browning, third place, $620 payout

Heat two:

Grizzly Mountain, Omak, Washington, first place, $1,550 payout

Aimsback, Browning, second place, $930 payout

Cedar Ridge, Blackfoot, Idaho, third place, $620 payout

Heat three:

Black Rock, Browning, first place, $1,550 payout

Pikuni Express, Browning, second place, $930 payout

Amskapi Pikuni, East Glacier, third place, $620 payout

Chiefs Race:

Cody Carlson, Browning, first place, $900 payout

Chaz Racine, second place, $540 payout
