Richard Paul Denney, 69

| December 1, 2019 4:00 AM

Richard Paul Denney was born on April 24, 1950 in Great Falls to Clarence Berg and Jean Denning. He was greeted by his older sister Peggy. Four years later another sister, Gail (deceased) joined the family. Dick’s birth father died in a tragic car accident when he was only five years old. His mother, Jean, later married Robert Denney who brought into the family brothers Ron and Jack (deceased) and sisters Sharon and Sande to make one big family.

Dick (as he was known by family and friends) grew up on a ranch east of Conrad. He graduated from Conrad High School. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for two years in Indiana and Michigan. He then returned to Brigham Young University to complete his college education, graduating in 1976. On April 24, 1976, just one day after graduating from college, he married for time and all eternity his sweetheart Diane. After one year in Utah they moved to Montana where they would settle for the next 42 years, raising an awesome and loving family. He taught high school for a total of two years and then settled into a career as a sheet metal worker, where he used his eye for detail and his mathematical mind to create. There were five sons born to their family: Joshua Paul, Nathan Earl (deceased), Jared Earl, Aaron Robert and Timothy Dean. They spent years of having laughter, love and tears together in their home; whether they were camping, hiking, wrestling, schooling, playing sports, scouting, building something or going to church, they did it as a family. Then their family grew again with sweet and generous daughter-in-laws and with 14 wonderful grandchildren, ranging from two years to 19 years old. Being committed to a life guided daily by the precepts of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the foundation on which Dick lived his life. The deep, everlasting love Dick had for his family will always sustain, protect and comfort his wife, sons and their families for eternity. His family will miss him deeply and daily. There are many people in Dick’s church community that will miss him also, but they and his family will treasure the opportunities they had to serve alongside him in many different capacities. May Dick’s living legacy be that we strive to continue on the Covenant Path as family and friends. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the Denney family.
