Dorothy L. (Johnson) Young, 81

Dorothy L. Young was born 1938 in North Dakota to Chester and Laura Johnson and passed away Dec. 7, 2019, in Kalispell.

At an early age, the Johnsons moved to Bainville, Montana, where she received her education, graduating in 1956. Dorothy was one of seven children; she had one sister and five brothers. Later that same year she married Clifford Gilbertson and started a family. Dorothy was a loving mother of two girls, Monica Emmert and Lori Feller. Later they moved to Kalispell where Clifford died in 1965 in a work-related accident.

In 1966, she married Wesley Young and they enjoyed 53 years together.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, three brothers, and numerous in-laws.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Wes; two daughters, Monica (Scott) and Lori (Pat); two brothers, Everett (Margie) and Erwin (Lauraine); sisters-in-law, Linda

Gilbertson Rasmussen and Geraldine Young Caudill; four grandchildren, Adam, Lisa, Christopher and Amelia; and five great-grandchildren, Isabel, Emmett, Ryker, Bennett, Peter and one due any day. Dorothy loved all her grandchildren dearly, however, was opposed to babysitting, saying: “I raised my girls without help, you do the same.”

As per Dorothy’s request, there are no services or memorials planned.
