Bruce S. Netherly, 67

| December 17, 2019 8:02 PM

Bruce was born in Dayton, Ohio, to June and Dave Netherly. He had six siblings, Tim, (Deb), Mike, Dona, Vickie, Barb and James, (Brenda).

Our courageous brother passed away from cancer at Kalispell Regional Medical Center on Dec. 8, 2019. He fought a brave fight.

Our family moved to Kalispell in 1968. He graduated from Flathead High School in 1970 and went to Flathead Valley Community College where he received an Associate of Arts of Human Services degree. He worked for human resources and later became an independent contractor working with his brothers James and Mike. He met Janiece Hamilton in 1987 and became lifelong friends and partners.

Bruce was involved in over a dozen community volunteer programs, most notably being the first Big Brother to Holly Larson (the first little brother) in the Flathead Valley. The list goes on for his volunteerism from Church Camp counselor to the Wheelchair Basketball Committee and participant.

He loved Montana; the outdoors taught him independence and freedom from within. He found value in the little things in life, and didn’t sweat the big things. He inspired us to think for ourselves and strive to do better for those around us. He loved music and enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his brother Mike. He defied the odds and did things his own way. He was a peaceful rebel in many ways. He was truly a free spirit. All his family and friends will miss him.

There will be no funeral services at Bruce’s request.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family. Friends are encouraged to visit the website www.buffalohillfh.com to leave notes of condolence for the family.
