Flathead grapplers winners in Missoula

MISSOULA — Flathead earned two dominant wins on the mat over Missoula Hellgate and Missoula Sentinel on Tuesday.

The Braves’ dual wins came 71-6 over Hellgate and 68-6 over Sentinel.

Brendan Barnes’ pin of Blake Jolma, a returning state placer for Sentinel, at 138 pounds was one highlight. Cade Troupe scored two pins at 126 to run his season victory total to 11.

Freshmen played big roles: Besides Troupe, Nolan Cate (113), Cade Gardner (120) and Dylan Kratofil (103) and picked up two wins.

“Every week we just keep getting better and better,” Flathead coach Jeff Thompson said after Flathead ran its dual record to 11-2. “These wrestlers just love to work hard and it’s whow in competition.”

Next up for the Braves is the Best of West Tourney in Pasco, Washington on Friday and Saturday.
