Basketball Libby boys slip past Polson, 48-42

LIBBY — The Loggers won a tight Northwest A boys basketball contest against the Polson Pirates on Saturday, 48-42 with three players scoring in double digits.

Ryggs Johnston led all scorers with 20 points, while Jay Beagle scored 12 and Keith Johnson 10 points for Libby (11-7, 4-6).

Ryker Wenderoth paced Polson (7-11, 5-5) with 15 points.

Libby led 12-3 and 22-17 after the first two quarters.

BROWNING – Tyree Whitcomb led a balanced Browning scoring attack as the Indians rolled to an easy Northwest A victory over the Columbia Falls Wildcats.

Whitcomb scored 19 points for the Indians (17-1, 10-0), who led 36-19 at the half. Ethan Running Crane added 16 points.

For the Wildcats (3-15, 1-9), Sam Hovde scored a team-high 17 and Danny Henjum scored eight points.

Visiting Missoula Big Sky knocked off the Glacier Wolfpack led by Camdyn LaRance’s game-high 19 points in a Western AA matchup.

Michael Schwarz paced the Wolfpack with 16 points and KJ Johnson scored 12.

Dan Morin added 10 points for Big Sky.

LIBBY – Jayden Winslow scored a game-high 26 points as the Lady Loggers routed Polson in Northwest A play.

Libby (11-7, 5-5), led 39-6 after the half and kept building a lead.

McKenzie Proffitt added eight points for the Loggers.

For Polson (0-18, 0-10), Sharmaine Zompel and Olivia Perez shared the scoring lead with four points each.

The Flathead Valley Home School Crusaders edged the Stillwater Christian Cougars, led by Elizabeth Buckner’s 19 points.

Codi Kenney added 15 points for the Crusaders.

Helen Hashley led the Cougars with 12 points and Marae Tintzman scored nine.
