Bigfork girls hang on to edge Anaconda, 48-47

BIGFORK — Izzy Santistevan scored a team-high 19 points and Rakiah Grende turned in a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds to help Bigfork hold off Anaconda 48-47 on Tuesday in Western B girls basketball play.

Anaconda (5-12) missed a game-winning shot at the buzzer.

Ansleigh Edgerton added 12 points for Bigfork (9-8).

Santistevan made five 3s to spark the Bigfork offense.

Bigfork led 15-8 and 23-19 after the first two quarter stops, but trailed 34-33 after three.

Anaconda’s Logan Stetzner topped all scorers with 23 points.

Bigfork beat Anaconda by five points 56-51 on Dec. 15.

Bigfork has a District 7B test on Saturday at Thompson Falls.

MISSOULA — Flathead Valley Homeschool (13-4) outscored Valley Christian School 22-10 in the second quarter to rally for the victory.

Flathead Valley led 26-20 at the half and closed with a 14-point fourth quarter.

Elizabeth Buckner led a balanced FVHS attack with 15 points. Corey Connerly followed with 11 and Codi Kenney tallied 10.

Kaytlin Kelly topped Valley Christian offensively with 15 points.

ANACONDA — Bigfork held Anaconda to single-digit scoring in each quarter to roll to an easy Western B victory.

Bigfork led 28-17 at the half and outscored Anaconda 31-15 in the second half.

Logan Gilliard led the way for Bigfork with 16 points. Anders Epperly finished with 13.

Bigfork has a District 7B test on Saturday at Thompson Falls.
