Special Olympics benefit event to stream live on Facebook

Soucie Soucie Salon is hosting a benefit Saturday, Feb. 23, for the Glacier Area Special Olympics.

Titled “Matador,” the ticketed cocktail theater event was limited to 100 guests and has sold out, however, the show will be shown live on Facebook Feb. 23. Viewers can tune in to Soucie Soucie Salon on Facebook and watch the alternative show and donations can be made online during the show at https://give.classy.org/matador. There will be link will be available on the Facebook page that viewers can click on to make a donation.

You may also call to be placed on a cancellation list to attend. Silent auction items may still be taken for the event; call 752-3501 if you would like to contribute something for the auction.

The staff at Soucie Soucie chose the Special Olympics charity because of the love they have for these amazing athletes and their families and belief in the organization’s mission.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

With the tickets sales alone the event has already raised $5,000 for the organization.

Representative Shelly Emslie along with athletes Anne Trout (Lighthouse Eagles team) and Jenni King (Kalispell Krushers team) will be speaking at the event. Many area athletes will also be participating.
