The Western AA Divisional boys and girls basketball tournament begins a three-day run on Thursday at Glacier High School to determine what four teams out of seven will advance to the Class AA state tournament in Butte on March 7-9.

Adult all-session passes are $25 or $10 for a single day pass. Student all-session passes are $20 or $8 for a single day pass. Tickets will be sold at the Glacier High School attendance window prior to each game. There are no pre-tournament ticket sales.

Play begins Thursday at 12:30 p.m. with the girls and a pair of middle seeds — No. 4 Missoula Hellgate versus No. 5 Missoula Sentinel — on the court.

The same seed scenario follows for the boys at 2 p.m. with No. 4 Helena High vs. No. 5 Glacier.

An intriguing girls matchup follows at 3:30 p.m. with No. 3 Glacier vs. No. 6 Flathead. This will be the third meeting of the season for the two crosstown rivals. Glacier has won the first two encounters — 32-24 on Jan. 11 at Glacier High School and 44-30 on Feb. 5 at Flathead.

The Flathead boys, seeded No. 6, follow that with a 5 p.m. date with No. 3 Helena Capital.

The evening then comes to a close with girls play at 6:30 — No. 2 Helena Capital vs. No. 7 Missoula Big Sky — and the last boys game at 8 — No. 2 Missoula Sentinel vs. No. 7 Missoula Big Sky.

The Missoula Hellgate boys and Helena High girls are top seeds and have first-round byes.

Hellgate will face the Helena/Glacier winner on Friday at 5 p.m.

Helena plays the Hellgate/Sentinel victory on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

The tournament is double elimination.

The girls championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. with the boys tipping off at 7:30.
