Eldora Marie (Kinyon) 'Dodo' Rosling, 72

Eldora Marie (Kinyon) “Dodo” Rosling passed away following a recurrence of ovarian cancer at her home in St. Anthony, Minnesota, on Dec. 28, 2018. She was 72 years old.

Dodo was born Oct. 13, 1946, in Whitefish to Homer and Eldora (Lalum) Kinyon. Later that month they moved 200 miles to a farm north of Joplin where she grew up. She was active in high school band, choir, cheerleading and graduated second in her class.

After graduation, she went to Pacific Lutheran University for two years, then transferred to a business school in Spokane. There she met Bernard “Bernie” Rosling on his birthday. They were married Aug. 27, 1967, in Joplin.

In November 1968, Dodo and Bernie moved to Omaha, Nebraska, for his first Air Force posting. In February of 1970, Shana was born. Bernie was posted to Karamursel, Turkey, later that year and Dodo and Shana joined him three months later. After 18 months they returned to the U.S., eventually settling in Montana where Dodo attended Western Montana College at Dillon. She taught elementary grades at Galata and was school librarian at J-I, Marion and Somers schools.

After retirement in 2004, Dodo and Bernie traveled extensively to Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. Most recent was a trip to Denmark, Sweden and Norway to visit ancestral sites. They visited and explored all 48 contiguous states in the last five years while full-time RVing in a motorhome.

Dodo loved music and played the piano, organ, saxophone, accordion and ukulele. She was a church organist for many years and enjoyed singing in the Valley Voices Choir of Kalispell. Along with music was her love of reading, cooking, traveling and exploring. Always the energizer bunny.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, James Kinyon, and sister, Myrna Orme.

Dodo is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bernie Rosling; daughter, Shana (John) Schmitz of East Bethel, Minnesota; grandkids, Brittany Schmitz of Spring Lake Park, Minnesota, and Damion Schmitz of East Bethel; sister, Esther (Con) May of Joplin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to family, her Attitude Adjustment Girls, Going Down Hill Bicycle Group, RVers Caught in Betty’s Web and many longtime friends were dear to her heart.

In lieu of flowers, remember her with a glass of wine and a song, as well as joining the family in Somers on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend for Dodo’s memorial gathering.
