Flathead girls pull away to beat Whitefish

WHITEFISH — Flathead held Whitefish scoreless in the third period to pull away for a 39-21 nonconference girls basketball victory on Friday night at Whitefish High School.

The Bravettes tallied 11 points in the third quarter to take a 30-14 lead.

Jenna Johnson and Taylor Henley led Flathead in scoring with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Claire Carloss topped Whitefish offensively with seven.

Flathead (3-2) hosts Post Falls, Idaho, today at 1 p.m. while Whitefish (2-5) plays at Hamilton at 4 p.m.

LIBBY — Columbia Falls held Libby to single digit scoring in three quarters and scoreless in second quarter for an easy Northwest A conference victory.

Columbia Falls, up 11-9 after the opening quarter, held a commanding 29-9 lead at the half.

Ryley Kehr led Columbia Falls in scoring with 13 points.

Trista Cowan netted 10 for the Wildkats.

Emma Gruber was Libby’s top scorer with eight points.

Columbia Falls continues with league play today at Polson while Libby journeys to Browning.

Bigfork led 22-2 and 44-3 after the first two periods. The Valkyries had 25 steals in the contest.

Bigfork (3-4, 1-1) is back in action today at Deer Lodge at 5:30 p.m.

A strong second quarter and big second half gave Stillwater Christian an easy Montana Christian Athletic Association victory over Gallatin Valley.

Stillwater, up 14-13 after the first quarter, outscored Gallatin Valley 21-7 in the next frame for a 35-20 halftime lead.

Stillwater outscored the visitors 30-17 in the second half.

Selah Neumann led Stillwater, and all scorers, with 20 points. Abigail Hudson followed with 14 and Madison Morken tallied 11.

PABLO — Robin Erickson had a game-high 16 points and Bo Kelley netted a season-high 15 to power Polson past Ronan at Salish Kootenai College in a Northwest A contest.

Polson never trailed and jumped in front 20-9 eight minutes into play.

Bubba Bush led Ronan in scoring with 13 points. Anthony Camel added 11.

WHITEFISH – Whitefish edged Flathead in nonconference play, led by Lee Walburn’s team-leading 24 points.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs was Mark Anderson with 14 points and Dillon Botner with 10.

Brett Thompson led the Braves with 11 points.

Flathead has a nonconference contest today at home versus Post Falls, Idaho, at 2:45 p.m. while Whitefish entertains Hamilton at 4 p.m.
