WHITEFISH — Glacier used four pins and benefited from 30 points off forfeits to whip Whitefish 61-12 in a nonconference wrestling dual on Tuesday evening.

Colby Martin (205), Camryn Vergeront (285), Dylan Miller (113) and Lance Fretwell (126) had forfeits for Glacier.

Whitefish forfeited at 138, 152, 160, 170 and 182.

Also scoring for Glacier were Thomas Putnam (103) by decision and Ricardo Hewitt (132) by major decision.

Dean Kellogg (120) and Dakota Flannery (145) had pins for Whitefish.

“Really fun to see Ricardo Hewitt get a great start on his varsity debut,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said.

“He is a first year wrestler who is 100 percent bought in and super excited for his future.”

Whitefish is back on the mats Thursday in Frenchtown and then heads for the River City Duals in Post Falls, Idaho, on Friday and Saturday.

Glacier, 13-10 in duals, is in Missoula Friday and Saturday for the Rocky Mountain Classic.

“Unfortunately they were dealing with some injury and illness tonight,” Dankers said of Whitefish, “but we appreciate the opportunity to compete against a quality program like Whitefish.”
