A Flathead Valley man was allegedly caught in the act when an arrest was made relating to the theft of a marine battery.

According to court documents, Cody Scott Lindahl, 22, has been charged with one felony count of burglary after a recent incident at a business on U.S. 2 in Kalispell.

According to a criminal complaint, at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, a Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a burglary alarm at a business that specializes in motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs, watercrafts, snowmobiles and similar items. He saw Lindahl in a vehicle on the property. While investigating the scene, he saw footprints in the snow that matched the tread of Lindahl’s shoes. The tracks led to a shop on the property.

When the owner of the property arrived, he determined that a deep cycle marine battery belonging to a man was missing. The deputy saw a marine battery with the name of the man on it.

Lindahl has a prior criminal record in the county. According to court documents, when he was 17 years old, he was charged with felony drug possession after he was accused of using methamphetamine while living with his grandfather. The case was transferred to juvenile court and the disposition of it is not known.

Lindahl is facing a term of 20 years in the Montana State Prison.
