Total exoneration

On the morning of April 18 I was sitting in front of the television, watching MSNBC. Attorney General William Barr was scheduled to make a statement and possibly answer questions at a press conference, during which he would announce the release of the so-called Mueller report.

What I was expecting to see was a man, a civil servant, cement his legacy as a servant to the public and not to what I thought was a corrupt, self-serving president of the United States. What I hoped to hear from him was the following: “Today, I am submitting to Congress a fully unredacted copy of the ‘Mueller Report to the Congress of the United States.’

“Having fully reviewed Mr. Mueller’s, and his team’s, 22-month-long investigation, I have concluded that the president did not engage in a criminal conspiracy with Russian officials and actors to disrupt the 2016 presidential campaign and election.

“That said, I found credible investigatory conclusions that while the president did not conspire with Russian operatives, he, and members of his campaign staff acted with reckless and calculated disregard toward the sanctity of free and unbiased elections. Mr. Mueller’s investigators uncovered numerous documented instances where Trump campaign surrogates and family members sought assistance from Russian operatives to gather and coordinate the release of illegally gathered information about, and from, their Democratic opponent.

“Furthermore, Special Prosecutor Mueller and his team investigated and reported numerous instances where the president engaged in obstruction of justice. But for an opinion from the Office of Legal Counsel in the Department of Justice, these acts would have resulted in the indictment of the President of the United States.”

This is not AT ALL what Attorney General Barr said. When he was done with his statement that morning, I sat in shock. I was stunned to learn how wrong I was about the president and his campaign staff: that he was, as he claimed from the beginning, the subject of a deep-state conspiracy that sought to rewrite the results of the 2016 election. So said Patriot Barr on April 18 about Robert Mueller’s conclusions: “no collusion ... no obstruction of justice.” In sum, as the president said, “total exoneration.”

I am just one of millions of Democrats who need to understand this truth. I believe the best way for this to happen is for MSNBC watchers such as myself, and other “never-Trumpers” who have been brainwashed by the liberal media, to turn to Fox News to watch gavel-to-gavel, live coverage of impeachment hearings in the House of Representatives.

The president, and the entire country will be well-served by these hearings.

Democratic Party sisters and brothers and I will be shamed and embarrassed. If every Trump campaign staffer and every Trump family member fully and completely complies with House subpoenas and testifies before Congress, such an inquiry would be over quickly. No charges would be sent to the Senate for trial. It would be the end of the Democrat Party as we know it.

But it will be for the good of the country. President Trump will be re-elected in 2020, and Republicans will win back the House while widening their margin of control in the Senate. It will be well-deserved penance for blind loyalty to the Democrat Party, years of abiding the will of the deep state, and for enabling the enemy of the people — the liberal media.

Can you imagine what President Trump and a Republican House and Senate could accomplish with the complete humiliation of Democrats seeking to impeach a president who has been “totally exonerated,” who was targeted by “18 angry Democrats” in the special counsel’s “witch hunt?”

In addition to family members, campaign and White House staff voluntarily testifying, President Trump should give up a golf weekend or two, hold his nose, and jump knee deep into “the swamp,” to testify before Congress. Such an act, repugnant as it may be, would secure his legacy as the most courageous president in history. He could use the sound bites of his testimony to win all 50 states in 2020 with the chant “no obstruction, no collusion, complete exoneration.”

Bring it on Mr. President! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by exposing the deep-state, Democratic-led witch hunt!
