Kalispell City Council is considering a request from WGM Group and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation at its meeting tonight for a major subdivision preliminary plat on an 8.3-acre tract located along Treeline Road, west of Kidsports and south of the new My Place Hotel.

The lot proposed for subdividing is part of Section 36, primarily owned and managed by the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation for the benefit of Montana’s school trust. The site is zoned mixed residential and the tract being subdivided was identified as part of the “mixed residential” pod in the planned-unit development. This land-use theme includes high-density multifamily.

Also under discussion will be a request from Timothy and Naomi Stutzman, owners of a 2.8-acre parcel, of which 0.3 acres is within Kalispell limits, to annex the southern 2.5-acre portion and upon annexation, zone the entire 2.8-acre parcel as residential. The property is located at 724 Sunnyside Drive.

The consent agenda includes an ordinance to change zoning on an almost 6-acre vacant lot adjacent to 1151 N. Meridian Road, south of the UPS distribution center. The UPS facility is interested in expanding to the adjacent land and to move forward, the owner of the property is requesting a zone change from urban residential to urban mixed use.

Also on the consent agenda is a forestry ordinance to amend the Kalispell Municipal Code regarding the establishment of the Street Tree Commission and the management of the city urban forest.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 201 First Ave. E.
