'Trash-2-Flash' rocks the runway this weekend

The ninth annual “Trash-2-Flash” Recycled Fashion Show is coming to the Old Lodgecraft Building in Eureka Saturday, June 8.

“Trash-2-Flash” is a fun-filled evening of performance art and music that the whole family will love. Local artists create haute couture from stuff that was destined for the landfill, recycling centers, or that has just been taking up space around the house and yard. Newspapers, feed sacks, cans, building materials, plastic of all sorts ... you name it ... if it’s trash these designers find a way to make it flash.

Models dance these unique, inventive and outrageous outfits down the runway.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and $5 for children 12 and under. They are available in advance at www.creativeartseureka.org or at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Wine, boxed water, and beer will be available for purchase.

The show is a fundraiser to support the Creative Art Center in Eureka, a place where community members can tap into and develop their imagination, learn something new, and take classes for fitness. The center is owned and operated by the Creative Arts Council, a nonprofit organization that relies on support from the community through membership dues, class fees, and fundraising events, such as “Trash-2-Flash.”

In addition to the eye-popping performance, there will be a silent auction of the outfits and awesome art pieces made from recycled objects.
