Seeley Lake District has new ranger

Quinn Carver intends to fish, hunt, volunteer with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and spend time with his visiting sons in the Lolo National Forest when he’s not working as ranger for the Seeley Lake Ranger District.

That’s according to a news release from the Lolo National Forest, which announced that Carver, who has served as interim ranger for several months, is officially becoming the Seeley Lake Ranger District’s new ranger.

“Quinn’s leadership style and his focus on building relationships with the surrounding communities is a good fit for Seeley Lake,” said Carolyn Upton, Lolo National Forest supervisor.

“He has a wealth of experience to draw from and we are excited to get him in place as we head into the summer season,” she said.

Carver worked as a wildlife biologist on the Helena National Forest for his first permanent career posting in 1994. Since then, he has spent most of his career in Montana, along with some time in Idaho and Alaska, the Forest Service said.

Carver’s most recent posting was on the Kootenai National Forest as natural resources staff officer. For the Seeley Lake job, he will draw from experiences as ranger of the Krassel District on the Payette National Forest in Idaho, the Forest Service said.

“I am very happy to be back in the ranger position – especially in Seeley Lake,” Carver said. “I have been around in the community for several months and I look forward to continuing to focus on building strong relationships and working with partners on projects, now and into the future.”

Carver will move to Seeley Lake with his wife, Susan, the Forest Service said.
