DeNae Weimer offers new six-week art class

| March 14, 2019 4:00 AM

The Kalispell Senior Center is offering a new six-week course in watercolor, taught by professional artist DeNae Weimer.

Born in North Dakota, growing up in Minnesota and having lived in Arizona before moving to Montana in 1995, Weimer learned to appreciate nature’s beauty in a wide variety of landscapes, which inspired her to draw and paint. Weimer is mainly self-taught, painting in watercolor for 15 years before delving into oils. Upon moving to Kalispell, she began working in Mark Ogle’s studio selling art. Her mentors include Mark Ogle, Robert Cavanaugh, Tom Saubert and Frank Hagel. She also admired and studied Joe Abbrecia’s past works.

Weimer’s next course will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays, March 29 to May 3 in the Kalispell Senior Center Art Room, located in Suite 2 at 1108 S. Main St. in Kalispell. The facility has plenty of parking off of 11th Street and a ramp for easy handicapped access.

Cost is $150 for all six classes. Participants will be given a minimal supply list upon registration. Space is limited and advanced registration is required. The deadline for registering is 4 p.m. Thursday, March 21. Classes are open to the general public. Participants do not have to be members of the Kalispell Senior Center and may be any age 18 years and older.

Weimer may also be contacted at 212-1836 or at denaeweimer@gmail.com, or visit www.denaeweimer.com
