| March 27, 2019 4:00 AM

Laurence “Larry” E. Redfield, 73, passed away on March 22, 2019, at Renaissance Assisted Living in Kalispell.

He was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Lakeside, the youngest child of Art and Dorothy Redfield.

He was educated in the valley and graduated from Flathead High School in 1963. Larry graduated from Rocky Mountain College in Billings in 1967 with a degree in secondary education. That same year he married G. Lynn Rodgers and together they taught in various schools throughout central and eastern Montana. They welcomed their son Stewart in 1971. Larry completed his Master of Education degree from Montana State University in 1972, returning to eastern Montana in school administration roles.

They moved back to the Flathead in 1977, where he switched to selling insurance, but invested a lot of time and energy in youth baseball as coach in multiple levels and occasionally umpiring with a tight strike zone and booming voice.

Most will remember Larry as a caring and dedicated husband and father, supporting those he loved and always willing to invest his time.

His remains will be interred with his wife Lynn at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell.

He is survived by his son Stewart, his grandson Macallister, brothers Charles, Joe and Art, and sister Dorothy.

A celebration of Larry’s life will occur this summer in Lakeside.

As a testament to his love of youth baseball, memorials in his name may be sent to Kalispell Laker Baseball, P.O. Box 8444, Kalispell, MT 59904.
