Joanne Eva Mordja, 64

Joanne Mordja (nee Lapoint) born Oct. 12, 1954, in Racine Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, due to kidney transplant complications.

Joanne and her family accepted the risks involved in this life-changing surgery in hopes it would give her a new lease on life. The Mordja and Lapoint families extend their deepest gratitude to the donor’s family and the hospital staff at the Mayo Clinic.

Joanne loved reading, gardening, spending time with family and friends and riding motorcycles. She was an incredibly loving mother and friend. She lived her life to the fullest and gave selflessly to all those around her.

Joanne is survived by her sons, Vince and Justin (Janice), half daughter Justina, sisters Barbara (Frank), Kathy (Jim), Bettie (Stacy), Teena, and Lucy (Greg), and brother Henry; grandchildren, Rylin, Gracie, Vanessa, Joselyn, Eva and Anya; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Lucille, sister Lillie, brother Al, and beloved husband Vince.

A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, at the Creston Grange Hall in Creston.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mayo Clinic Transplant Research Center.
