Bigfork girls 2nd at Division 3 golf
ANACONDA — The Bigfork girls golf team qualified for the upcoming Class B state tournament by placing second behind Missoula Loyola on Tuesday at the Class B Division 3 Meet at the Old Works Golf Course.
Loyola, led by medalist Katie Fagg, 78, and runner-up Isadora Tomazeli, 85, turned in a team score of 379.
Bigfork was second at 414, Anaconda third at 447 and Manhattan fourth at 494.
Isabella Santistevan and Carly Stodghill finished third and fourth in individual play with scores of 86 and 89, respectively.
Bigfork’s Hattie Emslie, 112, was 11th and MacKenzie Holton, 127, tied for 18th.
Loyola also cleaned up on the boys side with medalist Bucky Crippen, who shot a 73, and the team title with a 332 mark.
Anaconda, 372, was second, Florence, 373, third and Townsend, 389, fourth.
Bigfork, 408, was fifth and Eureka, 522, eighth.
Brandon Hopkins was Bigfork’s top boy, shooting a 91 to tie for 12th.
Eureka’ Erik Casazza, 102, tied for 22nd. Bigfork’s Asher VanCampen, 103, tied for 24th.
The top four teams and top 15 individual scores, boys and girls, qualify for the state tournament at The Ranch Club on May 14 and Canyon River Golf Club on May 15.
