Libby, Polson and C-Falls earn wins on first day of Laverne Combo

BUTTE — The Libby Loggers beat Miles City 6-2 on Friday to open the Laverne Combo Invitational Softball Tournament.

Libby scored six runs on 11 hits and broke and 1-1 tie with a four-run third inning.

Samantha Miller was 2 for 2 at the plate with two RBI.

Sheyla Gallagher doubled, had two RBI and hit 1 for 2.

Sammee Bradeen doubled, hit 2 for 3 and had three RBI.

Kira Ward pitched all four innings for Libby.

BUTTE — Polson scored runs in every inning to take out Havre 11-4 at the Laverne Combo.

Tied 4-4 after the third inning, Polson scored seven runs in the fourth and fifth to take the lead and surge ahead.

Polson’s Kobbey Smith hit 2 for 3 at the plate and homered.

Paige Noyes and Lisa Costilla each had two doubles. Costilla hit 3 for 3.

Lauren Vergeront pitched three innings with four strikeouts. She hit 2 for 3 at the plate and tripled.

Katelyne Druyvestein relieved Vergeront for the last two innings, had one strikeout and allowed one hit.
