Marjorie Caroline Gordon, 74

Marjorie Caroline Gordon, 74, went home to be with the Lord and receive her reward on Saturday, May 4, 2019. She is dancing with Jesus now in the garden of heaven.

Marge was born on Dec. 18, 1944, to Vincent and Dorothy Hoerner. The oldest of eight children, she grew up in Columbia Falls, enjoying a childhood surrounded by her siblings and cousins. Marge’s family is remarkably close and always out for an adventure. She recalled memories of fishing on the banks of the river with a stick pole, preferring her younger brother, Ray, to put the worms on the hooks and take the fish off due to her early on love for animals. She enjoyed bike riding, roller skating, horseback riding and ice skating as well as spending time with her friends, Diane Stone and Sandy Cook, and cousins, Lucille and Shirley.

In 1962, Marge graduated from Columbia Falls High School and attended Kinman Business College in Spokane, Washington. She also joined the military and was stationed in Paris Island, South Carolina, before returning to her hometown. She fell in love and married Dave Gordon in June of 1969 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. They moved to Townsend, Montana, where their first son, Rich, was born. The family then moved to North Bend, Washington, where their family expanded with the addition of their second son, Ron. Life also brought the Gordons to Pago Pago, American Samoa, for 18 months, where plenty of new adventures awaited them. Marge told the story of going outside once to find her two white-haired boys sitting in the back of a truck surrounded by a group of exceptionally large Samoan men as they journeyed to the nearest bush store to get a treat.

After returning to the states, Marge continued home to the Flathead with her two boys. A natural caretaker, she worked at the Montana Veterans Home, tending to the care of others who had served our country. She made everyone who knew her feel like family. She was courageous and always ready to try something new, from bungee-jumping with her son, Rich, to moving to Hawaii for a brief time. She had a gentle heart and was a nurturing mother. She was also selfless in her love. Her family was confident and comforted that she was in constant prayer for them, She was an amazing prayer warrior, always believing and hoping for the best.

Marge attended The River Church where she also poured out her love in service, ministering and praying for others. She was a lightning rod for the Glory of God. She attended mission trips to Thailand and Brazil, where she encountered many new friends, brothers and sisters in Christ. She had the honor to see God’s hand move mightily both in the states and beyond. She witnessed God heal and set many free many people in the family of God. She was one who not only talked the talk, but walked the walk, yearning to see God glorified. Her one true love was Jesus Christ and now they will dance together forever. Marge has entered into eternity were she was greeted by her parents, Vincent and Dorothy Hoerner, her brothers, Ray and Ben Hoerner, and her sister-in-law, Wendy Hoerner.

Marge leaves behind a legacy of great faith with her sons, Rich and Ron Gordon, her daughter-in-law, Samantha Gordon, and with her grandchildren, Colby, Anika, Cody, Carter, and Conner Gordon. She is survived by her brother, Ed Hoerner, and his wife, Linda; her brother, Gary Hoerner; her sister, Mary Morstad, and her husband, Nick; her sister, Theresa Jackson; her sister, JoAnn Haverkorn, and her husband, Terry; and her sister-in-law, Carol Hoerner. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and countless brothers and sisters in Christ. We love you, Marge, and we will see you again.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, May 14, at The River Church; 1275 U.S. Hwy 2 W., Kalispell. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at The River Church, and a burial prayer at Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Reception for family and friends following.
