Glacier Park International Airport staff plan on welcoming the first incoming flights from recently-added direct routes in style, with an elaborate water arch as the aircraft taxi to the gates, according to a press release from the airport.

New nonstop flights with service to Phoenix, Ariz. and Dallas, Texas kick off in the next few weeks. Allegiant Air’s Phoenix route will land Saturday at 6 p.m. and the American Airlines Dallas route will hit the tarmac later on June 6, at 11 a.m. The two routes are the most recent direct flights to be added to the airport’s offerings.

According to the press release, Glacier Park International Airport has “enjoyed unprecedented growth in recent years.” In 2018, the airport welcomed more than 600,000 travelers and is anticipated to “eclipse” that figure this year. Since 2015, passenger traffic has increased by 35 percent.

The airport is also in the process of expanding in order to meet the needs of Flathead Valley’s visitors and residents. The upgrades may add up to 40,000 square feet to the already-existing terminal within the next three years.

Other airlines with routes to and from the airport include Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines. In addition to the new Phoenix and Dallas routes, the airlines offer nonstop flights to Las Vegas, Denver, Minneapolis, Seattle and Salt Lake City.
