Clyde William Jones, 78

Papa went to meet the Lord on May 21, 2019. He was 78.

He was born in Yakima, Washington, Aug. 3, 1940, to Charlotte and Fred Jones. The oldest of five siblings, he grew up in Kila. He met his babe, Gladys Hess, at Flathead County High School in 1957. She was a sweet 14 year old and he was a rowdy high school hunk. They were married in 1961 and were blessed with three daughters.

His passions included game and bird hunting with friends, his sons-in-law Verlan and David, and grandson Hunter. He loved fishing, especially small lakes with his grandchildren and deep seas with his wife. He also loved dancing with his Babe, playing cards, camping and boating, taking pride in teaching Verlan how to waterski. He looked forward to the holidays in both Kalispell when his kids were little and Drummond when his grandkids were. He took every opportunity to teach his daughters Carnita, Rosina and DawnDee how to be independent, strong and thoughtful woman. He had pride in watching his grandkids in sports playing basketball, wrestling and softball and them growing into respectful, hardworking, kind-hearted people. His four grandchildren Justin (and wife Amber), Hunter and his first set of twin girls Aspen and Jaden (his “squirrels”) followed by his second set of twin girls, great-granddaughters Keely and Jubilee, were his true joy. Truly a proud and grateful Papa.

He worked in many trades throughout his life involving this land that he cherished — logging, millwright supervisor, miner and electrician, and he was the go-to man for many, with questions about mechanics, hunting, fishing, building and just life in general. He loved the Lord, his family, friends and this land ... To his three girls and his Babe, he was a strong, kind-hearted, compassionate leader. To his grandchildren he was someone to admire and learn from and to his friends and crews, he was somebody to respect.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and sister. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, his three daughters, his sons-in-law, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held in Drummond, Montana, the end of June. Please contact the family for information.
