FVCC plans opening for new library, commons

| May 29, 2019 4:00 AM

Flathead Valley Community College will officially open the doors to the new Broussard Family Library and Learning Commons during a ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 6. Free and open to the public, the event will feature a ribbon-cutting, guided tours of the building and light refreshments.

Made possible by a lead gift of $2.5 million from the Broussard family, the new facility includes a library with leading-edge technologies, collaborative spaces for small group projects, a Makerspace and a virtual reality lab.

The Broussard Family Library and Learning Commons is located on the south edge of campus, off Grandview Drive. Due to road construction on Grandview Drive, visitors are encouraged to access the FVCC campus from the northern entrance on U.S. 93 and follow the directional signs to the library.

The Broussard Family Library and Learning Commons represents the first of a two-phase expansion of the FVCC campus. The second phase is the development of a College Center to include a large performance and lecture hall, a multi-purpose activity center, an outdoor amphitheater and a reception hall with an art exhibition gallery. As part of the ONE Campaign, the FVCC Foundation has raised approximately $14.3 million for the $15 million College Center project.
