Man with unexpected extra phone says he 'is not a thief'

A man on Montana 35 in Kalispell came home to find he had an extra phone on him and claimed not to know how he obtained it. The “very concerned” man purportedly told Flathead County Sheriff’s Officer “he’s not a thief,” didn’t know who the phone belonged to and wanted an officer to pick it up.

A panic alarm was set off on Coverdell Road in Bigfork when an allegedly intoxicated woman in a vehicle with its hazard lights on threatened to drive through a building. Staff reportedly dealt with the “raving” woman all morning when the situation escalated. The woman’s husband showed up and took her home.

Someone calling from Coverdell Road in Bigfork told officers that people were going through their mailbox and took their dad’s newspaper.

A vehicle was driving fast, swerving toward oncoming traffic, cutting people off and “trying to get them to race” on U.S. 2 in Columbia Falls. A man was reportedly taken to jail for “driving suspended and DUI.”

A crying woman called Flathead County Sheriff’s Office from U.S. 93 in Olney, upset that a man allegedly tailgated her vehicle and she drove 80 mph to get away from him thinking he was going to hit her. She claimed the man also made a shooting motion with his hand. She said the incident started in Lincoln County. She was advised to contact Lincoln County law enforcement.

Someone on 13th Street in Whitefish was reportedly nearly hit by a vehicle trying to beat a red light at the intersection. The woman was supposedly very upset that “there is never any traffic control or officer presence in the area.”

Two vehicles allegedly raced into a parking lot on Cottonwood Drive in Kalispell and dropped off a truck. The person calling in the report claimed to watch the vehicles then drive up to the truck and remove its subwoofers. The person was concerned the truck was stolen.

A man calling from Ninth Street in Columbia Falls wanted more information about his account at a pawn shop being frozen due to purportedly pawning stolen items, but wasn’t given any more information beyond a report number. His questions were answered.

Someone calling from Montana 206 in Kalispell reported a spraypainted motorcycle parked in a ditch that they thought might be stolen. A tow truck driver reportedly told officers they spoke with the man who gave the driver a ride to Hungry Horse and had contact information if they needed it.

A man in a truck with its flashers on was allegedly chasing and cussing at a woman off of Lake Blaine Road. Officers made contact with the man who claimed it was a marital dispute and everything was fine.

A woman was allegedly screaming and talking to herself, saying she was going to beat someone up on Second Street. The person calling in the report to Whitefish Police Department claimed she walked out into traffic and their friend almost hit her. Officers spoke with the woman who was OK and headed home.
