Witnesses look over the scene of a fatal accident near Glacier Park International Airport Friday afternoon.

Law enforcement and emergency personnel were on the scene of a fatal accident near Wishart Road and U.S. 2 Friday afternoon.

An eastbound logging truck struck a larger four-wheel all-terrain vehicle.

The driver of the ATV was killed in the accident. The driver of the tractor trailer truck was reportedly not seriously injured, according to witnesses, though his truck overturned and went into the ditch. No other people were reportedly involved, witnesses said.

The accident occurred just north of Glacier Park International Airport and the road was closed for several hours as multiple logs covered the roadway, according to Trooper Josh Nanna with Montana Highway Patrol. Traffic was re-routed.

Nanna said the crash occurred when the ATV driver apparently pulled out in front of the logging truck while attempting to make a U-turn. The truck driver then tipped and spilled its load onto the ATV.

Numerous emergency personnel were on the scene, including Columbia Falls Fire Department, Three Rivers EMS and GPI emergency vehicles.

Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
