Phyllis Theresa Fischer, 88

Phyllis Theresa Fischer, age 88, passed away on Oct. 31, 2019. Phyllis was born to Boyd and Margaret Morgan on June 10, 1931 in Leon, Iowa. After completing high school in Lamoni, Iowa, she attended and graduated from Graceland College in Lamoni.

Phyllis taught first grade in Calumet, Iowa where she met and married Leslie B. Fischer. They were blessed with five sons and one daughter.

In 1969 they moved to Kila. Phyllis attended the University Of Montana and received her B.A. in Education and taught first grade for 23 years at Kila School. In that time she ran the track program, directed plays and introduced wrestling and gymnastics to the students in Kila.

Phyllis was baptized on December 14, 1980 and grew in her love of the Lord. Her husband Les passed away suddenly on Dec. 7, 1988. Phyllis continued teaching until 1994. Phyllis then cared for her aunt and mother and worked part-time for Foxy Lady Boutique in the Kalispell Center Mall. After her aunt’s death she moved with her mother to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1996, which she called her 10-year vacation. She then moved back to Kalispell with her 105-year-old Mother in 2007.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sons Mark Allan, who passed on Dec. 9, 1985 and Matthew Fischer, who passed on Feb. 12, 2019.

Phyllis is survived by her sons and daughter; Dan and wife Connie Fischer and their children, Andrea, Brittney and Luke; David and wife Pam Fischer, and their children Nicholas, Jacki and Rebekah; Thaine and wife Tahna Fischer and their children Regan and Sophia; Theresa and husband D.J. Paolini and their children, Morgan, Sarah, Daniel Joseph and Katherine. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15, 2019 at Glacier Baptist Church. Burial will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
