Bigfork Playhouse Children's Theater holds auditions for 'A Christmas Story'
The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater invites students in grades three through 12, and adults of all ages, to audition for its annual Holiday production “A Christmas Story.”
Don’t want a big part but want to be in the show? There is plenty of ensemble opportunity.
This classic holiday tale based on the Jean Sheppard movie centers on a mischievous, bespectacled boy, Ralphie, who dreams of getting a BB-gun for Christmas. In the weeks before the big holiday, Ralphie, his friends and his family get into all kinds of situations — including run-ins with a bully with “yellow eyes,” a tongue stuck to a flag pole, a bar of soap in the mouth, a garish leg lamp, a major award and a Chinese Christmas dinner with a brilliant musical that will make this a holiday extravaganza.
Songs like “When you’re a Wimp,” “Genius on Cleveland Street,” “Ralphie to the Rescue” and “You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out!” will delight the cast and audiences.
Auditions for “A Christmas Story” will be held at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre Afterschool Arts Center at 833 Grand Ave. Tuesday, Nov. 19. Grades three and four will audition from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.; grades five through seven, 5:30 to 7 p.m.; grades eight through adult from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
This production calls for a large cast. There is no cost to audition. There is a $50 fee to participate in the production if cast in the show. Prepare a 30-second monologue or selection from another play or book, and plan to learn and sing something at the audition. If you don’t have experience or can’t find something to prepare, materials will be available. Tentative rehearsal dates will be announced at the auditions. Performances are scheduled for Dec. 13, 14, 15, 20 and 21.
