Flathead takes second, Glacier third at Missoula invitational
Bozeman High Speech and Debate team took the lead at the Garden City Invitational in Missoula this weekend, outscoring Flathead and Glacier high schools, which took second and third place, respectively, in the first tournament of the season to feature all Class AA teams.
Bozeman racked up 196.5 sweepstakes points. Flathead took second place with 148.5 points, followed by Glacier, in third, 144.5.
Glacier Head Coach Greg Adkins said the final outcome of the tournament was cemented in the early afternoon on Saturday when Bozeman took the top four places in Novice Policy Debate, giving them a 70 point event that proved to be the difference.
Six Class A, B and C teams also competed in the two-day tournament.
Columbia Falls Speech and Debate placed first among A, B, C teams, scoring 54.5 sweepstakes points.
