Grateful for outpouring of support
Dear Kalispell community — thank you.
I have two favorite words: gratitude and hope. I believe both qualities are necessary for a meaningful and fulfilled life.
On behalf of our staff and students, I want to express our gratitude for the outpouring of support that we recently received when dealing with the tragic death of our colleague, Jerad Avery. Words cannot express our grief and dismay when dealing with an event of this magnitude. The kindness and empathy that was expressed by cards, flowers, food and many other acts of support were so appreciated. This came from parents, surrounding school districts, businesses and many others. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
When dealing with any tragedy, particularly a suicide, one must always have “hope” for the future. Tomorrow will be a better day, you can get through any challenge or circumstance that you may be facing.
Toward the end of my father’s life, he always ended any conversation with the encouraging words, “Keep looking up.” For him, this had two meanings. The first was to remain positive, knowing that a positive attitude and outlook toward life was key to having a fulfilled life. The second was his faith in God. He knew there was nothing that God could not solve when he felt inadequate in the circumstances he was facing. Whatever meaning has the most significance to you, go with it, and “Keep looking up.”
Lastly, I want to share with you some simple, yet vitally important information when dealing with the possibility that someone is contemplating suicide.
Suicide is everyone’s business, and help is nearby!
