Benjamin F. Grimm, 90, passed away on Sept. 20, 2019, at the Montana Veterans Home.

Ben was born in Kila Dec. 19, 1928, to Albert and Lizzy Grimm. Ben was one of three boys. Ben grew up in West Glacier and attended school there through eighth grade.

Ben was drafted into the Army in 1951 and served until 1953 in Panama and Newfoundland. He served in the Army Reserves and joined the Montana National Guard, retiring as a staff sergeant at age 60. Ben was also a life member of the VFW Post 2292 in Kalispell.

Ben’s last 25 years were spent at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls where everyone there became his family. He will be fondly remembered by his smile, his love of funny hats and costumes. Ben always talked about how he enjoyed going on the bus to different parades and events in town. He loved playing bingo and winning prizes.

He was preceded in death by a brother Herbert Grimm, his mother Lizzy, and father Albert Grimm.

Ben is survived by his brother Robert Grimm and sister-in-law Betty Grimm of Cut Bank, five nieces, a nephew, and several cousins.

The family of Ben Grim is forever grateful for the love and compassion shown to Ben for the last 25 years he lived at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.
