BUTTE — The snow was flying Friday night, but so were the Flathead Bravettes who delivered a decisive victory over Butte in Western AA soccer on Friday.

Junior Skyleigh Thompson was on fire, scoring four goals one after the other and the second with a header.

Flathead had 20 shots on goal to Butte’s five, and keeper Sara Harrison made sure to stop every single one of the visitor’s attempts. Flathead coach Bledy Doda said his team came to the field with a mind to win, and refused to let up.

“Butte played well too, but the Flathead girls, I think they have something a little more to give. It was a good game, it was a team game. It was cold and fun,” Doda said. “Our goal was to be in the top two teams and we are there — and we are going to fight until the last game.”

The Bravettes are 6-3-1 more than halfway through the season and will face Helena Capital at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11.

BUTTE — A mix of snow and rain did little to dampen the spirits of the Flathead Braves, who dominated the field in their Western AA matchup against Butte, sending a commanding eight goals into the net on Friday.

Five goals were made in the first 20 minutes of the game, setting the tone for the rest of the night.

The Butte Bulldogs responded with a goal in the 31st minute but Flathead answered back with three more.

AJ Apple and Jalen Hawes proved a formidable duo, alternatively scoring and assisting each other on the field with three goals apiece.

Braves coach Zach Brenneman said his team played well, despite the cold weather.
