Irene Hansen, 96

Irene Hansen, 96, passed away peacefully at the Montana Veterans Home on Sept. 29, 2019.

Irene was born in Clear Lake, Iowa, on Feb. 20, 1923, to Christian and Marie Olson, both immigrants from Denmark. She attended the Clear Lake School system through graduation in 1941.

After graduation Irene joined the United States Coast Guard. When she completed her yeoman training she was stationed with the 11th Naval District Offices in Long Beach, California.

Irene married Ray Hansen Oct. 1, 1943. They raised three children Terry, Tommy and Christie. Ray and Irene moved to Whitefish in 1979. She stayed actively employed until she was 92 at McKoy’s Quality Interiors.

A celebration of Irene’s life will be held at the Whitefish VFW at a later date.
