The Teccas country duo garners Josie Music Award

| October 10, 2019 12:05 PM

The Teccas country duo from Montana was awarded the prestigious Fans Choice Award at the Josie Music Awards in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on Sept. 21.

The Teccas are originally from Helena and part-time residents of Oregon. Scott Tecca and his daughter Kayla Ann Perbil started performing together fours years ago mainly in Helena and the surrounding area, then Billings, Livingston, Philipsburg, Stevensville, Kalispell and Libby, plus points in between. They’ve performed locally at Sacred Waters Brewery, the Tailing Loop Winery, The Springs summer series, the Great Northern in Whitefish, the Silver Spur in Columbia Falls and The Raven in Woods Bay.

Two years ago The Teccas decided to become full-time musicians. Scott and his wife, Nicole, took a leap of faith and sold their Helena home, bought a fifth-wheel camper and truck and hit the road with daughter Kayla and husband Christian, heading for Oregon. It wasn’t a decision taken lightly. Scott was employed as a licensed land surveyor and enjoyed his job. It took years of dedication after graduating from the Flathead Valley Community College to reach the position he held, but he loved music more. Kayla is a graduate of FVCC’s Culinary Arts School, as is her husband, Christian.

The Teccas joined Salter Gann Universal Promotions & Management LLC team of independent performers and in 2019 were picked up by White Lion Audio, releasing “These Days” June 8, which can be heard on streaming services such as Spotify and Amazon. Another original piece, “Whiskey In Heaven,” was used by the Gold Star Families of the 22 of Montana in a recent video dedicated to military families who have lost loved ones to suicide. It can be viewed on youtube.com.

Besides winning the Josie Music Award for Fan Choice Award for Duo, The Teccas were nominated for five other awards: Duo of the Year and Entertainer of the Year, in both modern and traditional country categories, and Songwriter Achievement Award for “These Days.”
