Four interceptions and 11 penalties cost the Glacier Wolfpack in a 20-6 loss to the Helena High Bengals in Western AA football at Legends Stadium on Friday.

“You’ve just got to give Helena credit,” Glacier coach Grady Bennett said. “Flathead came to their place and beat them and they came to our place and beat us. They flat out beat us.”

Last week Helena lost to then winless Flathead and responded this week with three touchdowns against Glacier (3-4).

“The defense played well enough,” Bennett said. “So many penalties so many mistakes. Can’t win football games when you play that sloppy.”

Patrick Rohrbach’s 30 and 31-yard field goals in the first quarter were Glacier’s only points in the game.

With so many penalites, it was hard for Glacier to get anything going on offense.

“There were some big plays in that game and they were making them and we weren’t.”

Next Friday is a crosstown game against rival Flathead.

“How will we respond?” Bennett said.

“Helena responded in a great way. If the character of our team is what I believe it is, we will bounce back and be a better ball club next Friday.”
