Myrtle M. Strodtbeck, 103

Myrtle M. Strodtbeck was born at the family homestead near Bloomfield, Montana, on Jan. 28, 1916; she moved on to her final destination on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 at the age of 103.

She was the daughter of turn-of-the-century homesteaders Grant and Clara Bates. She attended the Ursline Academy in Great Falls. Myrtle was married to Stilden Roll in 1934. He was a rural school teacher from southern Indiana. They lived in many eastern and western Montana communities: Minx, Echo Ridge, Lufboro, Twin Buttes, Lindsey, Homestead, Boulder and Round Butte. In 1949 they arrived in Kalispell where she had since resided. In 1968 she was married to Vern Strodtbeck. Vern passed away in 1995.

In addition to being a busy homemaker, Myrtle was engaged in many community and church activities: Grey Ladies, 4-H leader, Cub Scout mother, St. Matthew’s Alter Society and Catholic Women Foundation.

Myrtle is survived by her three children, Dale (Rita) Roll of Yorba Linda, California, Arlen (Maryle) Roll, and Gloria McMichael of Kalispell. She is also survived by six grandchildren, John Roll of Spokane, Linda Robb of Kalispell, Wayne Janice and Glenn McMichael of Kalispell, and Tanya Wiseman of Alta Loma, California; as well as numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Two grandchildren, Larry and Brian McMichael, preceded her in death.

Myrtle was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church for 70 years.

Private services for Myrtle will be held at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and she will then be laid to rest next to her husband Vern in C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
